The plight of rural women farmers

Every October 15th is the International Day of Rural Women – a day set aside by the United Nations to recognise the contributions of women in remote places to national developments across the world.

In recognition of this year's theme, ''Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All'', Gist Nigeria explores the critical roles women in rural communities in Nigeria’s play in the country's food production chain, and highlights some of their challenges and ways to improve their capacity.
